Board member honored

The Waynesfield-Goshen Local School District Board of Education met for their December meeting on Monday, but in no way was it just a regular meeting.

Jeff Schultz, president of the board, capped off eight years as a member, and was recognized for his longstanding service to the district.

Tom Brookhart, vice-president, presented Schultz with a plaque commemorating his time on the board.

“It’s been a quick eight years,” Schultz said.

“We’ve had some tough times, but we’ve also had some very good times,” he added. “I know (the board) is going to do a great job in 2018.”

Kevin D. Ewing will be taking over for Schultz on the board after winning the uncontested election in November, along with current member, David Pepple, who was reelected for another term.

The board also carried out a variety of regular business, including the approval of a resolution that declares an existing Permanent Improvement Tax Levy necessary, which will likely appear on ballots this spring.
