Board of education elects new president

WCS Superintendent Keith Horner was appointed official purchasing agent for the Wapakoneta City Board of Education for 2014 along with Operations Manager Mike Watt.


At its annual organizational meeting on Tuesday night, the Wapakoneta City Schools Board of Education elected a new board president and vice president.

Pat Gibson and Brent Schwartz were sworn in as president and vice president, respectively. Gibson takes over for former president Eric McKinniss.

Board members were also appointed to serve on designated boards and committees for 2014. Each board member was appointed to more than one committee, including the Wapakoneta High School Athletic Board/Parent Information Group, the Facilities Committee, the Finance Committee, the Legislative Liaison Committee, the Student Achievement Liaison and the Performing Arts Center Committee.

Angela Sparks was appointed as Treasurer and the Public Records Designee for Wapakoneta City Schools for 2014. Sparks is now authorized to invest funds that are not expended during the calendar year.

WCS Superintendent Keith Horner and Operations Manager Mike Watt were appointed as official purchasing agents for the Wapakoneta City Board of Education for 2014. Horner and Watt are authorized to approve a change to orders  up to 10 percent of the original contract award amount, not exceeding $25,000.

During the regular board meeting that followed the organizational meeting, Horner thanked the board for their service.
