Week 1 was a nice start for the Wapakoneta Redskins varsity football team.
Now, they have to prove they can do it again.
After rushing for over 400 yards in a methodical, run-dominated 42-10 victory over Bellefontaine last Friday to open up the 2010 season, the Redskins will make the plunge into Western Buckeye League play Friday night when they host the Bath Wildcats.
In a win where his team owned time of possession and battered and bruised its way to six touchdowns in seven offensive drives, Wapak head coach Doug Frye wants to see if it can play as efficiently for the second straight week.

Wapak girls tennis wins at Bluffton

After losing a pair of tough Western Buckeye League matches, the Wapakoneta Redskins girls varsity tennis team returned to the road Wednesday for a non-league match at Bluffton.
Returning to form, the Redskins came up with a 4-1 win over the Pirates, upping their 2010 record to 4-2 overall.
Makenzie Klock defeated Shannon Koch in first singles 6-1, 6-0. Not long after, Olivia Nelson won her second singles match over Jess Hunter, 6-1, 6-1.
In third singles, Ashley Beach beat Rachel Sehlhorst 6-0, 6-0. Second doubles also went to Wapak, when Katie Martin and Annie Harrod downed Liz Diller and Kristi Geiser 6-3, 4-6, 7-6.
Chloe Veit and Allisa Apple won in JV doubles, 6-2, over Bluffton.
 
Redskins take down T-birds: Wapak plays host to LCC for girls golf dual

The Wapakoneta Redskins girls golf team didn’t come through with its lowest score of the season Wednesday, but still pulled out a win.
In a dual match against Lima Central Catholic at the Wapak Country Club, the Redskins came through with a 200-203 victory over the Thunderbirds and improved to 2-3 in match play this season.
