Billy E. Bush, 87, of rural New Knoxville, died aat 1:12 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at St. Ritaâ€™s Medical Center in Lima.
He was born June 22, 1925, in Lima, the son of Charlotte (Rosell) and Everett Bush, who preceded him in death. On Dec. 22, 1944, he married Rose Mary Siegel, and she died March 19, 2004.
Surviving are two sons, Richard (Chris) Bush, of Lima, and Thomas Bush, of Stacy, Minn.; a daughter, Susan (James) Manbeck, of New Bremen; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Nancy Bush; and a sister and brother-in-law, Georgianna (Allen Wayne) Knoch.
Bill retired in 1985 as a truck driver with G.A. Wintzer & Son Co. in Wapakoneta. He served in the Pacific Theater during WW II with the Armed Guard of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the New Knoxville United Methodist Church, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie 691, Wapakoneta, and a life member of the VFW Bowersock Bros. Post 6772, Spencerville. He was a former member of the American Legion Post 444, New Knoxville. His hobbies included farming and fishing. He also had a team of Belgian horses and in his younger years enjoyed coon hunting.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, State Route 501, Wapakoneta, with the Rev. David Moore officiating. Burial is to follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Wapakoneta, where military rites will be conducted by the Spencerville VFW and the American Legion.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
