Bettie Lou Hammond, 84, of Columbus, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at her home.
Bettie was born on Oct. 7, 1929, in Waynesfield, to the late Nevin R. & Q. Lucille Graham Basil.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Lenhart.
She is survived by four children, Keith Hammond of Fort Myers, Fla., Denise (Kim) Parcher of Etna Green, Ind., Bruce (Vicki) Hammond of Grove City, Ohio, and Greg Hammond of Sarasota, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Ben Hammond, David Hammond, Mark Gibson, Josh Parcher, Lydia Parcher, Micah Parcher, Hannah Parcher, Adam Hammond, and Matthew Hammond; four great-grandchildren, Brianna, Logan, Hadley, and Max Hammond, and her brother, Nevin Ray (Linda) Basil of Lakeview.
Bettie was a 1947 graduate of Wapakoneta High School and earned her business degree from Bliss College in Columbus. She worked at Lazarus for over 25 years. She enjoyed hot air balloon rides, but her greatest joy was being with her family.
Kim Parcher will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview. Visitation will be Saturday from 5-7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial is in Walnut Hill Cemetery, New Hampshire, Ohio.
Contributions may be given in her name to Mount Carmel Hospice, 1144 Dublin Rd, Columbus.
