The best online tax resources

January 17, 2014

The online consensus for do-it-yourself online tax software for the 2013 tax season is narrowed down to five products.

TurboTax, TaxACT, H&R Block, TaxSlayer and eSmart Tax round out the top five in a couple of different online reviews. One coming from toptenreviews.com, a site for technology consumers that offers top ten reviews on multiple products; another coming from Andrew Poulos, an online tax software expert who writes for reviews.com, a startup company whose goal is to help users make the right and best decisions when purchasing products.

Many of these products offer free filing versions when federal returns are simple, and when filing more complicated returns, prices for these programs ranges from $9.95 to $19.99.
