WAYNESFIELD â The 10th-ranked Ada Bulldogs rolled to a 74-51 win over the Waynesfield-Goshen Tigers in a non-league varsity boys basketball matchup Saturday night in Waynesfield.
The loss was the eighth in a row for the Tigers after they opened the season with two wins. They now stand 2-8 overall.
Turnovers and missed shots hurt W-G in the loss.
âWe need to keep working and playing hard,â W-G varsity coach Ryan Taylor said. âWe need to start playing mentally tough and get our confidence back.â
The Bulldogs took advantage of W-Gâs shooting struggles and outrebounded the Tigers.
âWe are bigger and we were able to use our size to our advantage,â Ada varsity coach Chris Sautter said.
Konner Baker led Ada with 17 points and four rebounds. Bobby Steiner added 11 points and seven rebounds. Gabe Sutton helped with 11 points and five rebounds off the bench.
âI thought Konner, Bobby and Gabe did a good job helping out tonight,â Sautter said. âWe had a lot of guys that played a lot of minutes and we were able to rest our guys up to the fourth.â
Ada had nine players on the board with four players in double figures while the Tigers only managed to have one player in double figures on the night.
âWe need to play better team basketball offensively,â Taylor said.
Junior Lee Turner recorded a double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, to lead W-G. Sophomore Colton Miller chipped in with nine points and three rebounds and senior Garrett Hauenstein contributed nine points.
âWe need to get better as a whole team and get our team chemistry back,â Taylor said.
