BASKETBALL: Rockets batter Trojans

December 28, 2011

BOTKINS — The Anna Rockets girls basketball team remained undefeated by easily taking care of Botkins in a 58-35 win Tuesday.

Anna jumped out to a big lead early, capturing an 18-7 lead in the first period and never looked back.

“They are a very good team,” Botkins varsity coach Don Mack said. “They get up and down the court in a hurry. We were able to force them into some outside shots but it wasn’t enough.”

Anna’s quickness got them plenty of second shots, as they pulled down 13 offensive rebounds in the contest.

Christine Johnson notched a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds for Botkins.

Anna is now 8-0 on the season and is 5-0 in Shelby County League play. Botkins fell to 4-6 and 2-3 with the loss.

The Trojans enjoy a long break and play again Jan.7 when they host Fairlawn.

Anna won the JV game, 40-30.
