WAYNESFIELD â€” Jacob Frank scored 31 in a pair of varsity boys basketball contests over the weekend. But the Waynesfield-Goshen Tigers split the games, both at home, to fall to 6-9 on the season.
W-G lost a tough one to Northwest Central Conference foe Ridgemont as the Golden Gophers came out on top 63-57 on Friday.
With the scored deadlocked at 29-29 at halftime, Ridgemont outscored the Tigers 17-11 in the third quarter to take a six-point lead.
That would be the final margin as W-G battled but came up short of knocking off the 10-5 Golden Gophers in the fourth quarter.
Frank led the Tigers with 16 points. Jake Risner added 10 points.
Dylan Little (9 points), Colton Miller (7), Lee Turner (6), Garrett Hauenstein (4), Jeron Hennon (3) and Justus Ball (2) rounded out the scoring for the Tigers.
Ridgemontâ€™s Devonte Ratliff led all scorers with 26 points, including four 3-pointers.
W-G bounced back on Saturday to post a 65-59 win over the Fairlawn Jets.
Holding onto a narrow 49-48 lead heading into the fourth quarter, the Tigers outscored the Jets 16-11 over the final eight minutes to grab the win.
Frank led W-G with 15 points, taking top honors for the second night in a row.
In all, five Tigers scored in double figures. Ball and Turner scored 12 apiece. And Risner and Little added 11 points each.
Miller and Hauenstein chipped in two points apiece to round out the scoring.
The Tigers return to action Friday with an NWCC game at Fairbanks. They then host Botkins in a non-league game on Saturday.View more articles in:
