BASEBALL: Fairlawn ends Trojans’ season

May 9, 2012

BOTKINS — The Botkins Trojans came up just short in their Division IV baseball first-round tournament game, falling by a 4-3 score to the Fairlawn Jets on Tuesday at Botkins Community Park.

Fairlawn took a 2-0 lead in the top half of the first inning and never trailed.  The Jets made it a 3-0 game in the second before Botkins scored once in the bottom half of the second and once more in the third to close the gap to 3-2.

The Jets added one more run in the fifth, with Botkins also scoring in the fifth.  But it was too little, too late for the Trojans.

Evan Dietz was 2-for-3 with a double for Botkins.  Zach Greve was 2-for-3 with an RBI.  And Christian Hoskins was 2-for4.
