Anna Elizabeth Coleman, 77, passed away at 2:35 p.m. on March 7, 2014, at the Shawnee Manor. She was born on Dec. 1, 1936, in Sachenbach-Lohr, Germany, to August and Maria Hart Merz, who preceded her in death. On Aug. 26, 1959, she married Tomas Coleman, who survives in Lima.
She was a member of St. Johnâ€™s Catholic Church, in Lima. She enjoyed volunteering in her community, at the soup kitchen and for anyone in need. Her hobbies included cooking and baking, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She helped run the family business, Redwing Shoe Store. Anna supported her husband through his 22 years of military service.
Survivors include two children, Thomas and Myra Coleman, of Lima, and Mary and Greg Wallace, of Wapakoneta; four grandchildren, Matt and Jill Wallace, Sarah and Anthony Wallace, Sarah and Lee Bates, Erick and Denise Kater; six great-grandchildren, Kallie Roberts, Kasen Wallace, Shelby Bates, Sophia Bates, Isabella Bates, Kenzie Kater; and two sisters, Hildegard Stauch, of Germany, and Christa Kabalen, of Radcliff, Ky.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Bernhardt Merz.
Services will begin at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at Chiles-Laman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel. Father David Ross will officiate and interment will follow in Gethsemani Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimerâ€™s Association.
