Althea S. Ruedebusch, 90

Althea S. Ruedebusch, 90, of Wapakoneta, died at 11:30 p.m., Sunday, March 4, 2012, at The Gardens, Wapakoneta.  

She was born April 13, 1921, in Wapakoneta, the daughter of Lillia (Weifenbach) and Eugene Slattery, who preceded her in death.  On Sept. 6, 1952, she married Norman F. Ruedebusch, and he died March 22, 1999.

Survivors include two children, Bruce Ruedebusch, of Wapakoneta, and Susan (Tim) McCarty, of Dublin, Ohio; five grandchildren, Madison and Wesley Ruedebusch, and Ben, Christopher and Michael McCarty; siblings, Geraldine Metzger,  of St. Marys, Imogene Mox, of Delphos, and Calvin Slattery, of New Bremen.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Byron and Dana Slattery, and a sister, Mary Jane Scheufler.

A homemaker, Althea retired as a receptionist in 1986 from the Wapakoneta Machine Co.  She was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church, Wapakoneta, where she taught Sunday school for many years and was active with the election day suppers and funeral dinners.  

A 1939 graduate of Blume High School, she also volunteered with the American Red Cross Bloodmobile.  She enjoyed dancing, playing cards and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday at the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. R. J. Davis officiating.  Burial is to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta.  

The family will receive friends 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, State Route 501, Wapakoneta, and one hour prior to the service, Friday at the church.  

Memorial contributions may be directed to the First United Methodist Church or to the Activity Fund at The Gardens.  Condolences may be expressed at www.bayliffandeleyfh.com.
