Alice M. Schwer 82, of Wapakoneta, died at 5:17 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, at St. Ritaâ€™s Medical Center in Lima.
She was born May 1, 1929 in Lima, the daughter of Sarah (Higgins) and Joe Kohler, who preceded her in death. On June 17, 1950, she married Joseph L. Schwer, who survives in Wapakoneta.
Also surviving are three daughters, Sandy (Denny) Harrod of Jacksonville, Fla., Julie (Dale) Zwiebel, of Wapakoneta, and Jamie (Jon) Waterman, of Wapakoneta; three sons, Joseph M. (Pam) Schwer, of Wapakoneta, Tom Schwer, of Wapakoneta, and Jeff Schwer, of St. Marys; 11 grandchildren, Matt (Kim) Harrod, Doug Harrod, Jason Schwer, Brett Schwer, Lindsay (Justin) Amaral, Jeremy Zwiebel, Brittany Zwiebel, Jackson Waterman, Justine Waterman, Danielle Stein and Travis Schwer; five great- grandchildren; and two sisters, Edith (Harold) Stroh, of Wapakoneta, and Nell Gault, of Seattle.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.
Alice was a 1947 graduate of St. Joseph High School. She was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She retired after 20-plus years from St. Ritaâ€™s Medical Center as an admissions clerk. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren along with gardening and flowers. She especially enjoyed playing bingo at St. Joe.
Mass of Christian Burial is at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Patrick Sloneker officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 Thursday at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Wapakoneta.
