Members of a local nursing home plans on hosting a remembrance event to show their thanks and appreciation to the emergency personnel in the county and to remember 9/11.
Auglaize Acres staff are holding the appreciation meal for all EMS and Emergency Response members in the community and throughout Auglaize County by inviting them to a special lunch.
Members of Auglaize County fire departments, police departments, EMS and the county Emergency Management Agency are invited to stop by Auglaize Acres for their appreciation lunch, which will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday.
This event is to remember 9/11 and to honor the local responders who help keep the community and county safe.
âWe thought it was a great time to have this because itâs the 10th anniversary of 9/11,â Auglaize Acres Administrator Connie Pierce said. âIt was a traumatic time for everyone.â
This is their first year hosting this event, and Pierce said that they decided to try something new, in honor of the 10th anniversary of 9/11 and to remind that they havenât forgotten about what happened 10 years.
Pierce said that there are times where emergency responders are not remembered, and this event is to bring attention to all the service they do for the community to help keep it a safe place to live.
âThey are always looking out for us 24/7,â Pierce said. âWe never know when disaster is going to strike in our backyard, and we know that they will be there for us.â
This event is a time to say thank you to all of the different squads, responders and officers who work in the county.
Auglaize Acres staff will be cooking up hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill and will also be serving baked beans, chips, cookies and lemonade outside of Auglaize Acres. Participants can either pick up their meal through an outside drive through pick up or by enjoying it near the large barn behind Auglaize Acres.
