‘Skins lose to O-G, Titans remain perfect
WAPAKONETA — “I wouldn’t call it a blow out,” said varsity head coach Marc Dyrness. “But they blew through us.”
Wapakoneta hosted Ottawa-Glandorf Thursday evening in a WBL matchup, and the better team went home the victor.
“They are bigger, faster and stronger,” Dyrness said after the Redskins fell to O-G, 5-0.
Ottawa-Glandorf is 10-0 on the season, and the Redskins knew they were going to have their hands full if they were going to upset the visiting Titans.
“We played alright, (Goalie) Matt (Ewing) had a hell of a game,” Dyrness said. “He was under pressure pretty much the whole night.”
The Titans recorded 18 shots on goal, compared to the Redskin 4.
“I mean, It’s O-G. This year they are a very, very good team and we did what we could do, we put them under pressure a few times, we just didn’t get the result,” Dyrness said.
Dyrness said this O-G squad is one of the best.
“This team right here, as a group, is one of the more athletic teams I’ve seen in a long time. They’ve got 11 seniors, they have great size, they have great speed. The kids know each other and it shows. They are 10-0 for a reason,” Dyrness said.
Wapakoneta has St. Mary’s next, who shut out Defiance Thursday night. The roughriders are now 7-0-2 on the season.
