The Wapakoneta Redskins fell two losses behind Western Buckeye League leader, the Bath Wildcats, after a 158-178 loss Thursday against the Defiance Bulldogs in a WBL varsity boys golf match at Eagle Rock Golf Club in Defiance.
The loss dropped Wapak to 4-2 in WBL play, while Bath remained perfect in league action at 6-0 with a 165-176 victory Thursday over Van Wert.
Lilli Schaub’s goal with just under nine minutes left in Thursday’s contest broke a 1-1 tie and proved to be the difference in the Wapakoneta Redskins’ 2-1 victory over the Lima Central Catholic Thunderbirds in non-league varsity girls soccer action at Harmon Field.
More than 70 minutes of game action passed between Wapak’s first and second goals Thursday, as Kylee Dahman scored the Redskins’ first goal 21 seconds into the first half.
The Botkins Trojans have now posted nine wins in 10 matches after their 182-189 win Thursday over the Fort Loramie Redskins in a Shelby County Athletic League varsity boys golf match at Shelby Oaks Golf Course in Sidney.
Botkins is now 9-1 in match play this season.
Josh Miller’s 42 for the Trojans was good enough for match medalist.
Botkins also had scores of 45 from Roger Miller, 46 from Nick Okuley and 49 from Seth Hanna.
Fort Loramie was paced by Brad Goettemoeller’s 45.
Speed equals distance divided by time, distance equals speed multiplied by time and time equals distance divided by speed.
Two of those elements cannot exceed nor fall short of the third. Balance must exist for them to equate properly.
The Wapakoneta Redskins will try to find that balance among speed, distance and time in order to calculate a winning formula against the Kenton Wildcats on Friday in both teams’ Western Buckeye League season opener.
