Bath blanks Wapakoneta, 6-0, in WBL play

The Wapakoneta Redskins lost to the Bath Wildkittens, 6-0, on Monday in a Western Buckeye League varsity girls soccer game at Ryan Field.

The loss dropped Wapak to 6-2 overall and 1-2 in the WBL.

The Redskins will play at Celina at 6 p.m. Thursday for their next contest.

Bogan helps Wapakoneta beat O-G, 169-185

A season-low by senior Dan Bogan aided the Wapakoneta Redskins in their 169-185 win Monday over the Ottawa-Glandorf Titans in a Western Buckeye League varsity boys golf match at Pike Run Golf Course in Ottawa.

Bogan shot a 42 and scored in his second straight match for Wapak after having not done so yet this season.

Wapak senior Bobby Crow was match co-medalist Monday with a 40, tying O-G’s Carson Williams.

Drew Wayman, like Bogan, shot a 42.

Wapakoneta defeats Bulldogs, 199-201

The Wapakoneta Redskins had a new lowest scorer Monday as senior Zoe Rayburn led the team with a 47 in their 199-201 win over the Defiance Bulldogs in varsity girls golf action at the Wapakoneta Country Club.

“Zoe had a very good round tonight,” Wapak varsity coach Dawn West said Monday. “She had one tough hole. Otherwise, she would have been mid-40s.

Tigers lose twice in NWCC tri-match

The Waynesfield-Goshen Tigers were defeated in a Northwest Central Conference tri-match Monday at Hidden Creek Golf Club in Lima.

W-G posted a team score of 218, which fell short against the Lehman Catholic Cavaliers (184) and the Temple Christian Pioneers (188).

Gabe Wilcox led W-G with nine-hole score of 45.

Drew Lament (53), Caden Spencer (58) and Colton Wilson (62) also played for the Tigers.

W-G will next compete in the NWCC Tournament, hosted by Ridgemont, on Sept. 18 at Kenton Memorial Golf Course.

W-G falls to Spencerville in 4

The Waynesfield-Goshen Tigers fell short Monday against the Spencerville Bearcats, 3-1, in a non-league varsity volleyball match.

The scores Monday were 25-17, 25-22, 24-26 and 25-21.

The loss left W-G with a record of 1-8 overall this season.

The Tigers will enter their Northwest Central Conference match Thursday against Perry with a 1-1 conference record.

City hosts pro bowlers

The third annual Moon City Classic provided plenty of excitement in the finals.

Kyle Troup, of Taylorsville, N.C., bowled his way up all the way from the No. 4 spot to win against Eugene McCune, of Munster, Ind., to win first place.

A total of 41 bowlers entered the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Central Region Event held at Astro Lanes from Friday through Sunday in Wapakoneta.

The Auglaize County Special Olympics program uses the event to raise funds. The event has turned out to be its largest fundraiser.

LCC gives Wapakoneta 1st loss of season

The Wapakoneta Redskins received their first loss of the season Saturday.

In a visit to Lima Stadium, the Redskins were defeated 2-0 by the Lima Central Catholic Thunderbirds in a non-league varsity boys soccer contest.

The loss moved Wapak’s season record to 5-1-1.

Two goals by LCC in the first half stood up the remainder of the game Saturday.

The T-birds’ Sean Daley opened the scoring at 5:09 with a goal. Nearing halftime, Daley posted another goal at 38:54 to conclude the scoring.

Western Buckeye League releases mobile app

The Western Buckeye League announced Saturday it has released an official conference sports mobile application.

The app is available to download from the iTunes store for Apple mobile devices or on Google Play for Android mobile devices.

Search “WBL Sports” to locate the download screen on mobile devices.

The app costs $0.99 to download.

The WBL will receive 50 percent of every app sold.

Kenton bombs Redskins, 52-16, in WBL opener

The Kenton Wildcats tortured the Wapakoneta Redskins’ secondary Friday in a 52-16 rout in the Western Buckeye League season opener for both teams in varsity football action at Harmon Field.

The Wildcats’ passing attack accounted for 448 yards with six touchdowns by senior quarterback Grant Sherman, who threw for 425 yards passing and all six TDs.

Kenton rolled to a 52-0 advantage through three quarters with its starters in the game.

Sheffer, Fort Recovery dominate W-G, 54-0

WAYNESFIELD — It was simply total domination.

The Fort Recovery Indians ran around, through and over the Waynesfield-Goshen Tigers in a 54-0 win in a non-league varsity football game Friday.

The game wasn’t even as close as the score may indicate.

After showing some promising areas despite losing 48-3 last week, the Tigers didn’t appear to show anything this time around and appear to be back at square one.
