The Waynesfield-Goshen Locals Schools board of education approved Monday in a special meeting the resignation of Ted Patton from his position as the head varsity girls basketball coach of Waynesfield-Goshen High School.
In an interview after the meeting, W-G Superintendent Chris Pfister said, “The only thing I can really say is that there were some internal issues with the program.”
As the game progressed, the Wapakoneta Redskins’ offense regressed Tuesday.
After a back-and-forth opening period, the New Knoxville Rangers began to shut down the Redskins the rest of the way en route to a 57-28 win in non-league varsity girls basketball action Tuesday at Wapakoneta High School.
The 29 points were the highest margin of defeat Wapak has endured in six losses this season.
CELINA — The Wapakoneta Redskins kept pace with the Celina Bulldogs for nearly all four quarters Friday.
The second of two 3-pointers by junior Keaton Metz gave the Redskins a 41-39 lead with 3:20 left in the third period. Celina, however, went on an 11-0 run to take a nine-point lead, 50-39, a minute into the fourth period.
Minus one starter for most of the game Tuesday, the Wapakoneta Redskins turned a constant double-digit deficit in the first half into a competitive game early in the fourth period.
After holding a commanding lead throughout Tuesday’s game, the visiting New Knoxville Rangers saw Wapak reduce its deficit to two possessions but they found their way in the fourth period, scoring 30 points in the final stanza, to record a 77-65 win in a non-league varsity boys basketball contest.
The difference on the scoreboard at the end of Monday’s game matched the amount of points scored by the Wapakoneta Redskins’ bench.
With 16 points from their bench, the Redskins, now 7-5, defeated the Indian Lake Lakers, 63-47, in a varsity girls basketball game Monday at Wapakoneta High School.
Senior guard Erin Schnell led the way with 12 points and six rebounds, while freshman guard Megan Fisher and senior post Hilary Bourne each added a bucket. Junior guard Morgan Miller also contributed with two rebounds.
