Thirteen years ago, many of Wapakoneta High School seniors graduated from their pre-school program as the class of the new millennium — including a special pair which appeared on the front page of the Wapakoneta Daily News.
Tracie and Tom Allman have been offering landscaping out of their home for nearly 12 years. They felt the time was right to finally open up a separate business location beside their home.
Xstream Landscapes & Waterfalls officially opened up on May 25 at it’s new location.
“We saw the need to have a place for people to come and look,” Tracie Allman said.
Seven Wapakoneta City Schools employees were recognized upon their retirements this week.
The retirees include Treasurer Susan Rinehart, high school English teacher Diane Elshire, third-grade teacher Cathy Beard, second-grade teacher Darlene Adams, high school social studies teacher Bill Dellinger, sixth-grade teacher Michelle Boyer, and high school Spanish teacher Dale Meyer.
May 31st
A 1983 graduate of Waynesfield-Goshen High School and an office manager and legal assistant at a Lima law firm is tabbed to be the the next director of the Auglaize County Elections Board.
Michelle Wilcox received unanimous support from the four Elections Board members to replace Elections Board Director Carolyn Campbell, who is scheduled to retire July 31.
Wilcox is to replace Campbell effective Aug. 1, but board members intend to hire her as an intern so she can learn under Campbell and other staff and so she can attend a state seminar the last week of June.
A strong Christian background and a family’s encouragement and inspiration, made one of Wapakoneta High School’s top five students into the person he is today.

Despite pleas from 22 second-grade parents, a decision to rescind an offer made to them to have their students stay in the same class in third grade remains.

May 30th
Wapak trails Granville 4-1 in the bottom of the third inning in the regional baseball semifinal at Tiffin.
Marshall Gerlach clears the bases with a bases-loaded double. Wapakoneta leads Granville 5-4 in the fifth inning.
Wapak batters go down in order in the top of the sixth. Granville comes to bat in the bottom of the sixth with the Redskins guarding a 5-4 lead.
Granville has put the first two batters on base with no outs in the bottom of the sixth. Skins still up 5-4.
SAC fly to right field. game tied at 5-5.
Janet M. Evans 79, of Spencerville died at 1:03 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
