GIRLS GOLF: Kohler bows out of district tourney

NORWALK — Wapakoneta Redskins sophomore Shelby Kohler bowed out of the Division I district girls golf tournament held Wednesday at the Eagle Creek Golf Club in Norwalk.
Kohler was the first girls golfer in school history to qualify for the district tournament.
St. Ursula and Ashland advanced to state in the team competition. And individuals from Perrysburg and Notre Dame punched their tickets to state by shooting 83 and 86.

Robert Tittle, 63

Robert Charles Martin Tittle, 632 Grove Street, Celina, died at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 9, 1948, the son of Evelyn Lucretia (Franks) and Robert A. Tittle.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Tittle, of Celina, and David (Tina) Tittle of Elsmere, Ky.
Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church in Newport, Ky., with the Rev. Michael Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Foster, Ky.
Friends may call 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Arrangements are being handled by Miller Funeral Home in St. Marys.

Gale Miller, 65

Gale E. Miller, 65, of Lima, died at 5:15 p.m., Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, at Cleveland Clinic.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 p.m. Friday at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home in Wapakoneta.
Other arrangements are incomplete at the funeral home.

Judy Beagle, 66

Judy Beagle, 66, 907 Columbia Street, St. Marys, died at 3:21 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, at Lima Memorial Health System.
She was born Jan. 9, 1945, in Pruden, Tenn., to Mary (Adkins) and Elvin Orick. On July 14, 1980, in Jellico, Tenn., she married Adrian Clay Beagle, who survives.
Also surviving is a daughter, Vera (Bill) Case of St. Marys.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Mark Beagle and Michael Beagle.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home in St. Marys. Burial will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.

Alice Schwer, 82

Alice M. Schwer 82, of Wapakoneta, died at 5:17 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
She was born May 1, 1929 in Lima, the daughter of Sarah (Higgins) and Joe Kohler, who preceded her in death. On June 17, 1950, she married Joseph L. Schwer, who survives in Wapakoneta.

Robert Bennett, 75

Robert Rudell “Bob” Bennett, 75, of Wapakoneta, went to his heavenly home on Oct. 10, 2011. He died at the Wapakoneta Manor after an extended illness.
He was born July 31, 1936, in Indiana County near Gipsy, Pa., the eldest son of the late Florence Edna (Henry) and Everett Rudell Bennett. On July 21, 1956, he married Fern Carpenter and lived most of his married life in Darke County moving to Wapakoneta in 2009. His wife survives.

VOLLEYBALL: Wapak whips Shawnee

With postseason play right around the corner, Wapakoneta Redskins varsity volleyball coach Keith Rambin wanted to send a message.
Mission accomplished.
After a bit of a slow start, the Redskins recovered and rolled to a dominating 25-22, 25-14, 25-16 win over the Shawnee Indians on Tuesday at Wapakoneta High School.
Down 11-7 after committing several errors in the first game, Wapak rallied with seven straight points to take a 14-11 lead and never looked back.

Council member resigns: C’ville councilor ends years of service by local family

CRIDERSVILLE — A village councilor with a family history of serving and helping a local village has submitted her resignation.
Long-time Criderville Village Council member Beverly Wood submitted her letter of resignation and will no longer be serving as a member of the village council, Cridersville Mayor Lorali Myers announced during Monday’s council meeting.
