Helen L. Decker, 89

November 17, 2011

Helen L. Decker, 89, of Waynesfield, died at 10:52 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 20, 1922, in Auglaize County to May (Marquess) and Clarence Jacobs.
On May 25, 1949, she married Winton A. Decker and he preceded her in death on April 23, 2005.
Survivors include, a daughter, Judy Beers, of Waynesfield.
Services are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Armentrout Funeral Home, in Waynesfield, with the Rev. Wayne de Wet and Jean Horn officiating.
Burial is to follow at Fairmount Cemetery near Unipolis.

Sheila A. Larck, 47

Sheila A. Larck, 47, of St. Marys, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2011.
She was born Jan. 2, 1964, in South Charleston, W. Va., the daughter of Reba (Williams) and Delmar Ray Larck. Her mother survives and her father preceded her in death.
Sheila was self-employed with her cleaning business and was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 691.
Survivors include her daughter, Sara Larck; son, Steven Larck; sister, Kelly Larck; brother, Jeff Larck; and two grandchildren, Kagan and Rhylon Larck.
She was preceded in death by her son, Delmar Ray Wilson.

OSHP focus on impaired driving enforcement

Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers are increasing their focus on impaired driving enforcement as part of an ongoing effort to contribute to a safer Ohio.

Through the effort, known as Trooper Shield, troopers statewide are working on effective traffic enforcement, multi-agency partnerships and educational campaigns as well as appealing for cooperation from motorists in what they hope builds on a trend of declining fatalities and increased enforcement of OVI (operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol) offenses.

Cridersville Tree Commission attends meetings, brings back ideas to village

CRIDERSVILLE — Members of a local tree commission have been doing their homework and attending informational meetings to help beautify the village.

Cridersville Tree Commission and Cridersville village officials recently attended two informational meetings — an Ohio Division of Forestry meeting, held in Bluffton, and a tree trimming seminar, held in Defiance, to learn to apply skills to make the village landscape more attractive along Main Street.

Patricia Deubler, 60

Patricia “Mama Bear” E. Deubler, 60, 819 ½ Columbia St., St. Marys, died at 3:59 a.m. Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, in the emergency department of Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
She was born April 20, 1951, in Middleville, Mich., to Beulah (Murray) and Leo Oliver. On June 17, 1972, in Lima, she married Richard E. Deubler II, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter Ann Marie Vorhees, of Columbus Grove; and two sons, Richard Deubler IV of Lima, and Andrew Mortagne, of Centralia, Wash.
She was preceded in death by an infant son Richard Deubler III.

Council openings: Village looking to fill two vacant seats

Despite an economy struggling to gain footage, one place in Cridersville has two openings.
Two council seats are up for grabs in an area village.
Cridersville Village Council members have two seats they need to fill on council by the new year. They are currently accepting resumes.
“This is a great opportunity to get involved,” Cridersville Mayor Lorali Myers said.
Resumes can be submitted to the village office. Interested residents must have lived in the village for at least a year to be considered for a possible seat on the legislative body.

Florist’s ‘puppy’ missing

A local business just doesn’t seem the same lately, and store owners are asking anyone with any information to help.
Shelby, the loveable 17-year-old miniature schnauzer that has wandered Haehn Florist ever since she was a puppy, has come up missing.
“Shelby has been a permanent fixture since we were located at the Plaza (Grandview Plaza),” owner Mick Haehn said.
Shelby came up missing Nov. 10 shortly after she had got a bath. Shelby got out through an open door and her collar and tags had not been put back on yet when she got outside. The dog never returned.

High winds, rain cause localized flooding, little damage

No major problems have been reported to local officials due to the storm that passed through the area Monday afternoon and night, Auglaize County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director Troy Anderson says.
Wind gusts approached approximately 35 miles an hour during the storm that passed through at approximately 5:30 p.m. A tornado watch was in effect for the county until 8 p.m.
“There was some localized flooding and some power outages in the St. Marys area,” Anderson said. “For the most part we got through it pretty good.”
