Dylan Everage, 16

Dylan Matthew Thomas Everage, 16, 302 N. Spruce St., St. Marys, died at 11:47 p.m. Friday, May 4, 2012, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 22, 1995, in Columbus, the son of Cara (Mabry) and Matthew Everage. They survive at the residence.
Also surviving is a sister, Kristin McClintock, of St. Marys.
Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Wayne Street United Methodist Church in St. Marys, with the Rev. Mike Everage, Elder of the Garden of Love Old Regular Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.

Etched in stone

Jason Strauser and Jesse Doseck will forever be etched in the memories of their classmates as the class of 2012 winds down its last few days of school.

Now there will be a visual memory as well for everyone to reflect on.

Nearly 70 people turned out Saturday as the parents of the two Wapakoneta students dedicated a memorial in front of the high school on Saturday. Both boys died to cancer before reaching graduation.

Bark park sought: City officials encourage dog owners to attend meeting

If area residents are interested in a dog park in a section of a planned park where Centennial Elementary School used to be located, two city officials encourage them to come forward.

Mayor Rodney Metz and 1st Ward Councilor Jim Neumeier, who chairs the Parks and Recreation Committee, advised residents seeking an area to exercise their dogs to come forward soon before plans for the park are finalized.

Bikers, motorists reminded to drive cautiously

With warmer, longer days approaching, law enforcement officials are reminding motorists and motorcyclists to take extra caution on the road.

“In general, we would like to remind motorists to share the roadway and always be aware of their surroundings,” Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) Wapakoneta Post Sgt. Brian Jordan said. “Motorcycles are sometimes hard to see and a second look before pulling from a stop sign may save a life. We also strongly discourage drinking and riding, keeping riding skills sharp and riders alert.”

BASEBALL: Wapak wins fourth straight

Five days, four wins.

The Redskins are on a roll.

Wapakoneta won its fourth game in a row, topping the Triad Cardinals 5-1 in a lightning-shortened varsity baseball game Friday at Wapakoneta High School.

The winning streak gives the Redskins some much-needed momentum with their first tournament right around the corner.  Wapak will play the winner of today’s Elida-Kenton game at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Elida’s Ed Sandy Field.

The Redskins head into the postseason with an 18-4 record.

Kenneth Fetzer, 79

Kenneth W. Fetzer, 79, of Spencerville, died at 10:48 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2012, at Auglaize Acres Nursing Home.
He was born April 29, 1933, in Van Wert, the son of the late Gwendolyn Jane “Dodie” (Dunlap) and Alfred John “Pat” Fetzer. On April 12, 1958 he married Doris Hayden, who died Jan. 21, 2000.
Surviving are four sons, Jeffrey L. Fetzer, of Eustis, Fla., Randy J. Fetzer, of Las Vegas, Nev., Byron L. Fetzer, of Delphos, and Jerry W. Fetzer, of Spencerville; and two daughters, Jackie S. Fetzer, of Dayton, and Keri A. Hickman, of Anna.

Alma Flarida, 99

Alma Lee Flarida, 99, of Cridersville, died at 11:15 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Cridersville Health Care Center.
She was born April 23, 1913, in Delphos, the daughter of the late Molly (Underwood) and Ora Barrett. On Sept. 21, 1927 she married Paul William Flarida, who died August 1991.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Eugene Flarida, of Lima, and William David (Betty) Flarida, of Wapakoneta; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Hook, of Indianapolis, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Eberhart, of Lima.
