WAYNESFIELD â The Waynesfield-Goshen Tigers came up short in a hard-fought varsity girls basketball battle against the Bluffton Pirates, falling 44-32 on Saturday in Waynesfield.
The loss was the third in a row for W-G in what has been a tough week for the 4-6 Tigers.
âI think our shooting needs to improve,â Tigers varsity coach Ted Patton said. âWe have to learn from our mistakes and head down the road.â
The Tigers shot 10 of 46 (21 percent) on field goals and 1 of of 14 (7 percent) on three-point field goals.
Patti A. Hullinger, 51, 909 Tecumseh Drive, St. Marys, died at 4:17 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2012 at St. Ritaâs Medical Center in Lima.
She was born Nov. 2, 1960, in Hammond, Ind., to Colleen (Popyk) and Ralph Rodgers. On Dec. 27, 1987, in Loveland, Colo., she married Timothy A. Hullinger, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Rob Hullinger, of St. Marys, and Korey Hullinger, of St. Marys.
Services are at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home in St. Marys, with the Rev. Jerry Schetter officiating.
Friends may call from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Ilo Stinebaugh, 94, of Cridersville, died at 1:43 p. m., Saturday Jan. 14, 2012, at Otterbein-Cridersville.
She was born Aug. 8, 1917, in Lima, the daughter of Lena Lesta Sybert and David Andrew Broshes. Both parents are deceased. On Aug. 25, 1934, she married Harry Lee Fraunfelter and he died Sept. 25, 1974. On March 27, 1965, she married Herbert Leroy Stinebaugh and he died June 9, 2000.
Surviving is a daughter, Barbara Smith, of Lima.
She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth âOscarâ Fraunfelter.
Carl W. Schlenker Sr., 92, died Jan. 15, 2012 at The Gardens of Wapakoneta.
He was born May 16, 1919, in Wapakoneta, the son of Elizabeth (Ochs) and John Schlenker, who preceded him in death. On June 22, 1940, he married Mildred (Mid) Cook who died Aug. 7, 1992.
CELINA â Wapakoneta Redskins coach Matt Bradley watched as his teamâs lead shrank at break-neck speed.
But it never disappeared. Not completely.
One point was just enough.
Bradleyâs Redskins held on for a 53-52 win in a Western Buckeye League varsity boys basketball game Friday at the Celina Fieldhouse after they built a 20-point first-half lead then watched as Celina cut it to one-point by the end of the third quarter.
Celina had three opportunities to take the lead in the final minute but failed to convert on each.

A transfer of $100,000 is expected to build back up the countyâs salary reserve fund for any retirements this year.
The Auglaize County commissioners this week approved the transfer from the contingencies fund to the salary reserve fund, which was established a couple years ago to help pay out vacation and sick time obligations offered as part of the countyâs financial severance package upon an employeeâs retirement.
Auglaize County Commissioner Doug Spencer said they had just a little more than $12,000 left in the account going into 2012.

Buckland area and rural residents in the surrounding townships will have the chance to get more information on the possibility of a renewable energy plant being built in the area.
U.S. Mainstream Renewable Power Inc., headquartered in Chicago, recently completed preliminary studies for the project, which would have portions in the village, as well as parts of Duchouquet, Logan and Moulton townships.
âWe thought now was the time to let people in the public get involved and get their input,â Buckland Mayor Dan Lambert.

Anticipating the possibility that teachers with Wapakoneta City Schools may strike, school administrators are making plans to keep schools open and continue to educate students.
Wapakoneta City Schools Superintendent Keith Horner told the Wapakoneta Daily News on Friday administrators have been spending a great deal of time preparing for a possible strike.
Richard Lee âDickâ Wills Sr., 80, of Portland, Texas, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, in Portland, Texas.
He was born Jan. 1, 1932, in Wapakoneta, the son of Bessie Darst and James Pete Wills. He married Dee Wills, who died Jan. 19, 2002 after 47 years of marriage.
One-by-one the shots rimmed out, clanged off and missed their mark.

A dismal fourth-quarter shooting performance doomed Wapakoneta in a 51-43 loss to the Celina Bulldogs in a Western Buckeye League varsity girls basketball game Thursday at Wapakoneta High School.
Wapak fell to 5-5 overall and 2-2 in the WBL. Celina is 8-3 and 3-1.
Sara Warnerâs transition layup at the 6:50 mark was Wapakâs only field goal in the fourth quarter as the Redskins shot a paltry 1-of-13 (7.7 percent) from the floor.
