Mary Ramsey, 99, of St. Marys, died Friday, Nov. 11, 2011.

Garet Schmehl, 20, of St. Marys, died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

Olga Elizabeth (Merkle) Nave, 91, of Rockford, died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011, at Swan Creek Nursing Home in Toledo.
She was born March 13, 1920, in Van Wert, the daughter of Bertha (Parker) and Lewis Merkle.
In December of 1942 she married Ralph H. Nave, and he died in 1993.
Surviving are a son, Scott Nave, of Sandusky; and two daughters, Kathy Nave, of Maumee, and Pamela Walen of Toledo.
Services are at 11 a.m. Monday at Miller - Long & Folk Funeral Home in St. Marys, with the Rev. Richard Hays officiating. Interment will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.

Stephen P. Swartz, 60, of Lancaster, formerly of Waynesfield, died Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at his residence.
He was born July 1, 1951, in Lima, the son of Patricia and Clarence F. Swartz. His mother survives and his father preceded him in death. His wife of 28 years, Joann S. Swartz, also survives.
Also surviving are two sons, 1st Lt. Matthew Swartz, USAF, of Minot, N.D., Mark Swartz, of Lancaster; a sister, Cyndy Kohler, of Waynesfield; a niece, Alicia Kohler; two great-nephews, and two uncles, John (Jo) Swartz and Carl (Anise) Swartz.
Jean Enzle Hogan 86, of Wapakoneta, died at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
She was born Oct. 6, 1925, in Dayton, to Dorothy E. Evans and Maurice V. Bickel, who preceded her in death. On Oct. 19, 1946, she married B. C. Enzle who preceded her in death April 21, 1975 and later married Harold E. Hogan Oct. 17, 1987 and he preceded her in death May 16, 2006.

As flu season begins to get underway, the public is encouraged to be immunized.
“We’re just starting to see it,” Auglaize County Health Department Nursing Supervisor Cindy Jones said this week of influenza cases locally. “Our concern is once people do their Thanksgiving sharing they will be passing more than the turkey.”
With the flu vaccine taking approximately two weeks to become effective, Jones said they are encouraging the public to come in as soon as possible to get one.
A local tradition, filled with holiday cheer, will soon be underway in Wapakoneta.
The 13th annual Festival of Trees is set to be held from Nov. 16 through Nov. 20 at The Gardens at Wapakoneta.
The Festival of Trees is a silent auction of decorated Christmas Trees and other decor to raise funds for the organization’s hospice care.
“It has become like a tradition in the area,” Community Health Professionals Marketing and Volunteer Coordinator Niki Du Vall said. “I have people that start calling in August asking when the festival will be held.”
