The Ohio High School Athletic Association has approved a list of referendum items to be voted upon by its member school principals this May.

Nothing on this year's May ballot is as significant as past years, when arguably the most controversial topic in the state's high school sports landscape — competitive balance — was voted upon (and finally approved last spring).

Village has big plans for 2015

The village of Cridersville has some big plans in store for 2015. Village council, Cridersville Adminstrator Jarid Kohlrieser and Cridersville Police Chief John Drake, along with Executive Director of the Wapakoneta Area Economic Development Council Greg Myers, shared their plans Wednesday night during the Committee of a Whole meeting with what they would like to see done throughout 2015.

Wapakoneta advances in state dual tournament

OHSAA State Dual Team Tournament — Division II, Region 16-B quarterfinal

Bellefontaine 38, St. Marys Memorial 30

Wapakoneta 49, Bellefontaine 22

The Wapakoneta Redskins advanced past Bellefontaine on Wednesday in a Division II, Region 16-B quarterfinal at Wapakoneta High School.

They will appear in a regional semifinal against Indian Lake at 5 p.m. Feb. 4 at Graham High School in St. Paris.

New restaurant set to open in Lakeview

A longstanding restaurant that has been a staple in the community of Lakeview has gotten a facelift thanks to a new owner who transformed it from a nautical-themed seafood and steak restaurant to an upscale, casual Italian bistro.

J. Capitano's, formerly known as Captain's Point, will open its doors to the public Feb. 5, 6 and 7 for a soft opening, and will begin regular business hours starting Feb. 11.

David Harris Andrews, 26, charged with rape, gross sexual imposition and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor made his pretrial appearance in court with family here to support him.

NEW KNOXVILLE — The Wapakoneta Redskins held off a second half rally by the host New Knoxville Rangers to post a six-point win, 50-44, in a non-league varsity contest Tuesday.

Maddi Stiles had 12 points to lead Wapakoneta (12-3), totaling two 3-pointers with six free throws. Megan Watt had two 3-pointers and tallied 10 points.
