Last season Bath, along with Defiance, accounted for Wapakoneta’s two losses in WBL competition, which ultimately ended the Redskins’ streak of four straight league championships.

Botkins denies Waynesfield-Goshen comeback

December 16, 2014

BOTKINS — After playing to a 19-19 tie at halftime, the winner of Monday’s game would be decided by whichever team won the second half.

The Botkins Trojans used a strong third quarter to cushion themselves against the Waynesfield-Goshen Tigers, and despite a nice comeback by W-G, the Trojans prevailed for a 37-33 win in a non-league varsity girls basketball game at Botkins High School.

The win ended a five-game losing streak for the Trojans (2-5), while W-G was coming off of its first win of the season.

December 3, 2014

The Wapakoneta Redskins’ defense was imposing enough all game long Tuesday to hold down the St. Henry Redskins, forcing 20 turnovers from the visitors Tuesday in Wapakoneta’s season opener.

And although Wapakoneta’s offense was not near midseason form, the team was pretty strong in certain moments, as it managed a 42-31 win over St. Henry in a non-league girls basketball contest.

Wapakoneta finishes best season in school history

November 26, 2014

With a dominating defense, a versatile offense and sound special teams play, the 2014 Wapakoneta Redskins varsity football team was the most accomplished in school history.

The standard this year’s team set is a lofty one for most high school football programs, but it’s a standard future Redskin teams will be expected to exceed moving forward under Travis Moyer, who just completed his first season at the school.

Former Wapakoneta player, coach returns to sidelines

MINSTER — Life can throw you all sorts of audibles.

One minute you have your mind set on what you want to do with your life and then comes a 6-foot-3 safety blitzing right up the middle, bearing down as you drop back to launch a deep pass to the end zone.

This is the life of Wapakoneta native and Minster varsity football assistant coach Dustin Dobie, minus the pain of being whacked by that incoming safety.

Still, the metaphor holds its similarities to Dobie’s life.
