The Wapakoneta Redskins trotted out to a 14-0 lead after their first two offensive series and held on to gain a 14-6 advantage over the Minster Wildcats in three quarters of varsity football action in a scrimmage Friday at Harmon Field.
Wapak varsity coach Doug Frye gave an evaluation of his team through Friday night.
“Right now, we are the Tarzan and Jane of football,” Frye said. “A week ago, our offense was a little ahead of our defense. Our defense played a little better than our offense tonight.
WAYNESFIELD — Waynesfield-Goshen got in its last tuneup for the 2013 high school football season with a scrimmage against Cory-Rawson on Friday, and varsity coach Doug Foley gave his team an overall favorable grade as the official season begins next Friday against Delphos Jefferson.
The scrimmage came a week after a less than favorable performance in a scrimmage against Indian Lake last weekend.
The Wapakoneta Redskins’ three-match win streak ended Friday in a 193-211 loss to the Minster Wildcats in varsity girls golf action at the Wapakoneta Country Club.
For the first time this season, none of Wapak’s players broke 50 for a nine-hole round.
Shelby Kohler (50) led the Redskins in Friday’s match.
Emily Klopfenstein followed with a 52, Sierra Sammons shot a 53 and Zoe Rayburn tallied a 56.
