The Defiance varsity baseball team traveled to Wapakoneta, and behind 14 strikeouts from Rob Zeigler, the Bulldogs defeated the Redskins, 1-0.

Senior Johnny Crawford pitched for the Redskins, allowing one run on three hits and five walks.

But Zeigler’s performance is one that will go down in Defiance baseball lore.

ELIDA —  Defense wins games.

That’s true for the most part, but a team needs a little bit of offense to break the tie every once in a while.

April 16, 2013

The plays which have been vexing the Wapakoneta Redskins in the past four games instead bewitched the New Bremen Cardinals on Saturday at Redskin Field.

The Redskins captured an 8-0 win against the Cardinals behind a stellar pitching performance from senior Brandon Miller to end a four-game losing streak, while the Cardinals wasted a gutsy performance on the mound by pitcher Trevor Kitzmiller to fall to 2-7 on the season.
