Despite a strong movement the past two years to do so, an expected vote to separate tournaments between public and non-public high schools in Ohio will not take place next May, as most previously thought.
No petitions to place referendum items up for vote were received by the Ohio High School Athletic Association in advance of its Monday deadline, according to several media reports Tuesday.
The OHSAA confirmed in a Twitter post late Tuesday night it had not received any petitions.
Harmon Field in Wapakoneta hosted more playoff football games than any other venue in the state of Ohio last month.
The stadium previously averaged two playoff games per year since 2000. This year Harmon Field hosted six of them.
The Wapakoneta Redskins had a solid season opener Saturday in the Findlay Duals wrestling tournament, going 3-2 in five dual matches.
The Redskins edged the Elmwood Royals, 32-31, handled an All-Star Team, 50-15, fell to the Eaton Eagles, 45-24, nipped the Whitmer Panthers, 37-34, and lost to the Bellevue Redmen, 42-34.
In each match, the Redskins left three weight classes empty.
