The Wapakoneta Redskins saw their season end Tuesday during their first ever district tournament appearance, as they placed fifth out of six teams at the Division I Northwest District girls golf tournament at Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green.
The top two teams from Tuesday’s district tournament advanced to the state championships.
Wapak shot 399 as a team Tuesday.

Wapakoneta Redskins junior Kaitlin Snider won two matches Saturday to claim the Findlay sectional singles title for the 2013 season.
Snider was one of four Wapak girls competing Saturday as district qualifiers for final placing at a Division I Northwest District girls tennis sectional tournament in Findlay.
Snider won three matches Thursday to reach the sectional semifinals, clinching a berth in the district tournament.
Wapak senior Rachel Roberts also qualified for districts Thursday after winning three matches.

Twin siblings Will Zofkie and Allie Zofkie, both freshmen representing the Wapakoneta Redskins, finished first in their respective freshmen-sophomore races Saturday as part of the Les Eisenhart Cross Country Invitational hosted by Thomas Worthington High School.
Will Zofkie beat a field of 328 runners with a time of 17 minutes, 39 seconds.
Allie Zofkie’s winning time of 20:26 was one minute and 51 seconds better than the runner-up in the field of 189 competitors.
By the time the game experienced its first downpour, the Wapakoneta Redskins had already rained 28 points on the scoreboard.
The Redskins scored four touchdowns a little more than 15 minutes of game action and then added a special teams TD to stabilize the rout early in Friday’s varsity football contest against the Defiance Bulldogs.
The Redskins rolled to a 52-7 victory Friday in Defiance in the median game of the Western Buckeye League schedule.
LIMA — Waynesfield-Goshen Tiger quarterback Lake Turner issued a declaration prior to their game against the Perry Commodores that the Tigers would get their first win of the year.
Turner and the rest of the team followed through on that promise.
As bad as the first half of the season went for the Tigers, the team’s reaction showed the fans the past was forgotten. While they were not electrifying, they were just efficient enough offensively and lights out defensively in a 14-6 win over Lima Perry.

“The conditions were tough,” Wapak varsity coach Kenny Wayman said. “There was a lot of wind, and the greens were slick. When you have that combination, it’s tough to score.”
