ST. MARYS — Aside from an early season wooden bat experiment, Wapakoneta has continued its success into the summer.
“They tried them in batting practice in the spring and they thought they might want to try them in the game,” Wapakoneta ACME coach Willie Sammetinger said, with a chuckle. “Well, they broke $200 worth of bats last night in Elida. They just fractured them. So we’re slowly but surely starting to go back to metal.”
The Redskins are showing theirs early in the ACME season.
