ELIDA — Elida varsity coach Todd Grapner frankly has seen enough of Johnny Crawford.
The Wapakoneta Redskins left-hander threw 12 innings of shutout baseball in two games against the Bulldogs this season.
Tuesday night, he tossed a two-hit, complete-game shutout to lead Wapak to a 2-0 win on a Division II sectional final at Ed Sandy Field in Elida.
It was his sixth straight shutout.
BATH TOWNSHIP — The momentum was gone but the lead wasn’t.
In the end, that was all that mattered.
The Wapakoneta Redskins completed their Division II softball sectional semifinal game Tuesday by blanking the Van Wert Cougars 3-0.
Wapakoneta scored two quick runs in the first inning Monday before lightning and rain ended play in the second inning.
The Redskins wouldn’t score again until the top of the seventh on Tuesday.
BOTKINS — The Botkins Trojans came up just short in their Division IV baseball first-round tournament game, falling by a 4-3 score to the Fairlawn Jets on Tuesday at Botkins Community Park.
Fairlawn took a 2-0 lead in the top half of the first inning and never trailed. The Jets made it a 3-0 game in the second before Botkins scored once in the bottom half of the second and once more in the third to close the gap to 3-2.
