St. Marys took advantage of a slew of miscues in the first three innings to post a 5-1 win over the rival Wapakoneta Redskins in a Western Buckeye League varsity baseball game at Wapakoneta High School.

ST. MARYS — Courtney Knippen and the Wapakoneta softball team pounced on St. Marys pitching from the start to take any drama out of the game against its Auglaize County rivals.

The Redskins sent 15 batters to the plate and scored 10 runs in the top of the first inning en route to a 15-1 run-rule victory in five innings at K.C. Geiger Park on Friday.

Knippen started and finished the scoring outburst with a pair of extra-base hits.
