COLUMBUS (AP) — The Ohio High School Athletic Association will be adding a seventh tournament division in football beginning in 2013, Commissioner Daniel B. Ross has announced. The addition of a seventh division was approved by the OHSAA’s Board of Directors by a 6 to 3 vote during its regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday.
LIMA — The Wapakoneta Redskins upped their record to 4-2 on the season with a 4-1 win over the Lima Senior Spartans in a non-league varsity boys tennis match Thursday in Lima.
Wapak players blanked their opponents in three of the four winning matches.
Redskins senior Nic Oen rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Dylan Goodwin in first singles.
In second singles, senior Joey Jose posted a 6-0, 6-0 triumph over Bryan Simpson.
WAYNESFIELD — The Waynesfield-Goshen Tigers posted their second varsity softball win of the week with a 4-1 win over the Sidney Lehman Catholic Cavaliers on Thursday at Waynesfield-Goshen High School.
W-G trounced the Upper Scioto Valley Rams 35-7 on Monday.
Against Lehman, the Tigers broke a 1-1 tie with three runs in the home half of the fourth inning to claim the win.
Seniors Alyssa Dyer, Logan Badertscher and Jessica Reimesch all reached and scored in the inning.
