After rolling out to a 20-0 win in the first game, the Wapakoneta Redskins varsity baseball team appeared poised to make quick work of the Waynesfield-Goshen Tigers in Game 2 of a season-opening doubleheader Saturday at Wapakoneta High School.
The Tigers would have none of it.
W-G fought valiantly and had the tying run at the plate in the top of the seventh inning but fell just short in a 5-2 loss.

COLUMBUS — Elida needed just four seconds to take a lead it would never relinquish.
Senior Reggie McAdams flicked the opening tip out to teammate Dakota Mathias, rolled to the basket, took Mathias’ 30-foot alley-oop pass and slammed it hard through the rim.
Game over.
It was all downhill from there for St. Clairsville as the Western Buckeye League champion Bulldogs rolled to a dominating 61-27 win over the Red Devils in a Division II boys basketball state semifinal Friday at Value City Arena.

COLUMBUS (AP) — Ohio State won’t have far to travel to play in the NCAA tournament.
At the same time, though, the Buckeyes face a logistical nightmare.
The Buckeyes (27-7) will play 15th-seeded Loyola of Maryland in the second round in Pittsburgh on Thursday.
Since the game is just a half-day drive from campus for Ohio State’s mass of scarlet-clad fans, that’s good news.
