FINDLAY â Twenty-four hours after a tip-to-buzzer win over the rival St. Marys Roughriders, the Wapakoneta Redskins varsity boys basketball team found itself on the other end of the scoreboard.
The Liberty-Benton Eagles jumped out to an early lead and rolled to a 55-33 win over the Redskins on Saturday night at Liberty-Benton High School.
Coached by 500-game winner Steve Williman, Liberty-Benton took a 15-6 lead after one quarter and never looked back.
BOTKINS â A strong team effort for the New Bremen Cardinals allowed them to travel into Botkins Saturday night and defeat the Trojans 67-48 in a non-league game played at Botkins.
âOur kids really responded tonight,â Cardinals head coach Adam Dougherty said. âIt was nice to see the energy they used after the heartbreaking loss we suffered Friday night. I thought we really responded well.â
âTheir pressure hurt us a little bit tonight,â Trojans head coach Brent Meyer said. âWe also didnât shoot very well from the floor shooting 29 percent.â
