November 21, 2012

We all love our Redskins. And every so often, a hometown favorite or a high school standout makes his way to the next level athletically. While he may not being wearing the Red and White of Wapakoneta, one collegiate football player has made his way onto the starting squad of a playoff team.

And he credits a lot of his success to his hometown in Auglaize county.

Some of you may remember him, but if not, meet Cale Tabler, now a sophomore at the University of St. Francis in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Boys bowling starts season with win

November 20, 2012

The varsity boys bowling  team kicked off its season with a convincing win over Russia Saturday,  2519-1834.

This season’s boys squad features many returning varsity players from last year, and varsity coach Jim Kaeck said the team should be able to build on last year’s state qualifying squad.

Saturday’s match was a dissappointment in one regard for Kaeck, in that the lane conditions were poor, and the balls were hooking way too much.

The match was fairly even in the first quarter, with both teams knotted at 15 a piece, but the second quarter belonged to the Maroon team.

Allowing just 6 points in the second quarter to the NorthStar squad, the defense was stifling.
