Call it lucky No. 13.
The Wapakoneta Redskins varsity boys bowling team rolled to its 13th victory of the season in as many tries by defeating a good St. Henry Redskins squad 2,951-2,810 on Saturday at McBo’s Lanes in Versailles.
The win kept alive the possibility of a battle of unbeatens in the final contest of the regular season Saturday, Feb. 11 at 20th Century Lanes in Lima.
Wapak and the Versailles Tigers are both 13-0 in West Ohio High School Bowling Conference play with just one match standing in the way of the pairing.
The excitement could be heard in Wapakoneta Redskins swimming coach Mark Law’s voice as he talked about his boys and girls swim teams taking fifth-place finishes at the Western Buckeye League swim championships.
“We had an outstanding day,” Law told the Wapakoneta Daily News on Saturday. “Our top boys had an outstanding day. For our girls, last year we were ninth and we moved up to fifth this year and we have some really good swimmers coming up. I am really happy with the outcome.”
ROCKFORD — As the old cliché goes, better late than never.
It took a little while for the Botkins Trojans varsity girls basketball team to get going Monday night, but once it did, it broke out in a big way.
After scoring just 27 points in the first three quarters, the Trojans put 22 points on the board in the fourth quarter to erase a 30-27 deficit and roll to a 49-36 win over the Parkway Panthers.
Botkins held the Panthers to just six points in the final quarter.
