BOTKINS â€” The Botkins Trojans ripped down a 49-27 victory over the Parkway Panthers in non-league varsity boys basketball action Saturday night at Botkins High School.
The Trojans dominated every aspect of the floor, from the initial tip-off down to the final minute in the first quarter as they pulled ahead of the Panthers 15-3.
But as the second quarter started, Parkway picked up its offensive mentality, matching Botkins with eight points each going into the half.
WAYNESFIELD â€” The 10th-ranked Ada Bulldogs rolled to a 74-51 win over the Waynesfield-Goshen Tigers in a non-league varsity boys basketball matchup Saturday night in Waynesfield.
The loss was the eighth in a row for the Tigers after they opened the season with two wins. They now stand 2-8 overall.
Turnovers and missed shots hurt W-G in the loss.
â€śWe need to keep working and playing hard,â€ť W-G varsity coach Ryan Taylor said. â€śWe need to start playing mentally tough and get our confidence back.â€ť
WAYNESFIELD â€” The Waynesfield-Goshen Tigers came up short in a hard-fought varsity girls basketball battle against the Bluffton Pirates, falling 44-32 on Saturday in Waynesfield.
The loss was the third in a row for W-G in what has been a tough week for the 4-6 Tigers.
â€śI think our shooting needs to improve,â€ť Tigers varsity coach Ted Patton said. â€śWe have to learn from our mistakes and head down the road.â€ť
The Tigers shot 10 of 46 (21 percent) on field goals and 1 of of 14 (7 percent) on three-point field goals.
