For 48 minutes Thursday night, the score was level.
Then the bubble shifted.
Wapakoneta Redskins sophomore forward Sara Warner scored the lone goal of the night to lead the Redskins to a 1-0 win over the Defiance Bulldogs in a Western Buckeye League girls soccer match at Ryan Field.
Eight minutes into the second half, Warner streaked down the left side of the field and fired a shot across the front of the goal, past the outstretched arms of Defiance goalkeeper Brittany Froelich, and into the right side of the net.
VAN WERT — The Wapakoneta Redskins varsity girls golf team picked up three wins with a quad-match win Thursday at Hickory Sticks Golf Course in Van Wert.
Wapak shot a 195 to best Marion Local (197), Lincolnview (210) and Crestview (210).
The wins lifted the Redskin to 6-8 on the season.
Wapak senior Courtney Knippen carded a 42 to tie Lincolnview’s Kailyn Brant for medalist honors.
Rounding out the scoring for the Redskins were Hannah Smith with a 45, Shelby Kohler — who had just returned from an illness — with a 53 and Bryly Beaman with a 55.
