The Wapakoneta Redskins varsity boys soccer team suffered a 4-0 defeat at the hands of the Kalida Wildcats in the Redskins’ season opener Monday at Ryan Field in Wapakoneta.
Kalida took a big early lead with three goals in the first. The Wildcats scored in the 16th, 23rd and 33rd minutes before adding a fourth goal to put the game out of reach less than three minutes into the second half.
Kalida outshot Wapak 20-10 overall and 12-8 on-goal. Colin Mankin and Adam Johnson each had two shots on goal for Wapak but could not convert.
Redskins’ goalkeeper Zach Holtzapple had eight saves.
