WAYNESFIELD â€” One after another, the shots didnâ€™t fall.

So it came as no surprise the Waynesfield-Goshen Tigers found themselves on the losing end when the final horn sounded.
The Tigers could not overcome their poor shooting as they fell to the McComb Panthers 57-51 in a varsity girls basketball game Monday night at Waynesfield-Goshen High School.
â€śOur girls are young and need to gain some more experience,â€ť W-G coach Ted Patton said. â€śWe just arenâ€™t used to outside shooting.â€ť
FINDLAY â€” The Wapakoneta Redskins varsity wrestling opened its season with a tough showing at the Trojan Duals on Saturday at Findlay High School.
Wapak suffered losses to Bluffton and Eaton in pool competition before rebounding to notch wins over Napoleon and Shawnee in bracket competition.
Nate Valentine (138 pounds) posted a 4-0 record in the meet, including a pin in the win over Shawnee.
Junior John Martin had three wins, including a pair of pins, at 106 pounds.
VAN WERT â€” The Wapakoneta Redskins boys swimming team placed second and the girls team took third in the Cougar boys finished third in the Van Wert Cougars Sprint Relay Invitational on Saturday at the Van Wert YMCA.
The boys team scored 158 to finish behind first-place Versailles (172 points).
The girls tallied 174 points to finish behind Bryan (180 points) and Versailles (178 points).
Wapak has its first home meet Thursday at the Wapakoneta YMCA.
TROTWOOD â€” The Botkins Trojans swim team kicked off its season by attending the Troy Pentathlon in Trotwood.
