FOOTBALL: Redskins hoping to face Franklin

October 31, 2011

A week ago, the Wapakoneta Redskins were undefeated and a lock for the OHSAA football playoffs.
Now they are 9-1 and in wait-and-see mode.
Barring intervention from the Ohio High School Athletic Association, the fifth-seeded Redskins will travel to Franklin to take on the fourth-seeded Wildcats, who are 9-1 and looking to host the first home playoff game in the school’s history.
After stumbling upon an OHSAA investigation into the residency of a player on the team, the school contacted the OHSAA on Wednesday and received confirmation of the investigation on Thursday.

VOLLEYBALL: Celina bumps Wapak

October 31, 2011

FINDLAY — The Celina Bulldogs have won four straight Western Buckeye League volleyball championships, losing just one match over that span.
Early in the season, the Bulldogs dismantled the Wapakoneta Redskins in three games — 25-14, 25-10, 25-12.
In other words, it was going to take a perfect match from the Redskins on Saturday to knock off Celina.
It wasn’t to be.
Despite a valiant Wapak effort, the Bulldogs pulled out a three-game sweep — 25-14, 25-14, 25-20 — in the Division II district title game Saturday at Liberty-Benton High School.
