Phyllis C. Elkins, 88, of Wapakoneta, formerly of Plymouth, Ind., died at 10:12 p.m., Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Auglaize Acres.
She was born May 5, 1925, in Plymouth, Ind., the daughter of Ford I. and Eva (Lackey) Keyser, who preceded her in death. On May 17, 1947, she married Joseph E. Elkins, Sr., and he died Oct. 30, 2013.
Alice Jeannette â€śA.J.â€ť Wintzer Heckman, 86, of Berea, Ky., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014. Alice Jeannette was born in Wapakoneta on Dec. 19, 1927, to Edith Link Wintzer and Carl Frederick Wintzer, both of whom preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by a brother, Frederick Stone Wintzer and her husband, Richard Allen Heckman. She died peacefully at home surrounded by family.
Brian Ray Tidwell, 48, of Sidney, passed away at 1:40 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, after a brief and courageous bout with cancer. Â He was born on March 6, 1965, in Sidney, the son of the late Richard and Jean (Funk) Tidwell.
John O. Dysert, 65, of 10984 Schroeder Road, Saint Marys, died at 7:07 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at his residence, following a lengthy illness.
He was born Sept. 24, 1948, in Celina, the son of James and Rebecca (Rupert) Dysert. He married Cathy K. Shelby on May 24, 1969, in San Diego, Calif., and she survives at the residence.
With the passing of Frederick Jacob Zint, 84, on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at St. Ritaâ€™s Medical Center, Lima, who resided in Wapakoneta, four generations of the Zint name came to an end in Wapakoneta. Born Oct. 3, 1929, in Lima, to Frederick Joseph Zint and Pearl Lillian (Olson) Zint, who at the time were residing at 717 W. Auglaize St., Fred, as he was generally known, was the great-grandson of Joseph Zint (the name was spelled ZUND in the old country) who had emigrated from the Alstatten in the canton of St. Gallen, Switzerland in 1865 shortly after the end of the Civil War.
Mary L. Niemeyer, 85, of 08816 Washington Pike, Wapakoneta, died at 5:10 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at her residence following a short illness.
She was born Feb. 23, 1929, in Lima, the daughter of John and Dorothy (Fike) Rohr.Â She married Robert Niemeyer on Nov. 7, 1949, and he survives at the residence.
She is also survived by her four children: Debra (David) McFeely of Fort Loramie, Dale (Barb) Niemeyer of New Knoxville, Dana Niemeyer of Wapakoneta and Darren (Tracy) Niemeyer of Wapakoneta.
Janice A. Moore, 77, of Russells Point, passed away Wednesday evening, Feb. 26, 2014, while at St. Ritaâ€™s Medical Center, Lima.
She was born on July 18, 1936, in Waynesfield, to the late Warden and Hildred Shaner Perkey. On Nov. 23, 1954, she marred Charles â€śCharlieâ€ť Moore in Indiana and he preceded her in death on Oct. 13, 1998. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Sanford Perkey, Johnny Perkey and Junior Perkey.
Michael Glen Stearns, 49, of Augusta, Ga., formerly of Wapakoneta, died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, in Augusta, Ga.Â He was born Sept. 2, 1964, in Lima, the son of Richard Glen and Audrey (Cull) Stearns. Â His parents survive in Wapakoneta.
Helen E. Ambos, 89, of Botkins, died at 4:05 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at the Dorothy Love Nursing Home, Sidney. She was born April 2, 1924, the daughter of Roy O. and Laura (Schumann) Metz, who preceded her in death. On June 30, 1946, she married Don W. Ambos, and he died Dec. 10, 2009.
Betty Lou Margraves Gossard, 74, of Lima, died at 11:27 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home. Â She was born Nov. 18, 1939, in Middlesboro, Ky. to William Wood and Mary Marie Janeway Margraves, who preceded her in death. Â She married Glenn Earl Gossard on July 25, 1959, and he preceded her in death on March 22, 1993.
Betty had been a pharmacy tech at Deshers and CVS. She attended Holden Missionary Baptist Church and her family was her life.
