Velma C. Mayer Geyer, 91, of Lima, died 12:40 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2011, at the Wapakoneta Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Oct. 29, 1919, in Shawnee Township, Allen County, to Merlie (Thompson) and Franklin Hinkle. On Feb. 18, 1941, she married Wilbur Virgil “Toot” Mayer who died Sept. 18, 1982. On April 8, 1994, she married Kelcey Phillip Geyer and he also preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 1995.

Velma C. Mayer Geyer, 91, of Lima, died at 12:40 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2011, at Wapakoneta Manor Nursing Home.
Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Cridersville.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home in Cridersville.
Other arrangements are incomplete at the funeral home.
John Murray Griffin, of Spencerville, died at 12:29 a.m.. Saturday, July 9, 2011, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
He was born April 16, 1916, in rural Spencerville, the son of Edna Holloway and Jack A. Griffin. On July 3, 1942, he married Doris C. Reynolds, who died May 10, 1997.
Surviving are three daughters, Phyllis (Richard) Smith, of Edgerton, Pamela (Dave) Heitmeyer, of Ottoville, and Jo Griffin, of Spencerville.

Norman G. Berry, 90, 912 Neil Armstrong Drive, Wapakoneta, died in the early morning on June 16, 2011.
He was born Feb. 3, 1921, in Municing, Mich. Norman and his wife, Genelle M. Berry, married on July 14, 1989. She survives in Wapakoneta.
He is survived by seven children, Rebecca S. Lofland, of Raleigh, N.C., Della (Pixie) Rogers, of Wapakoneta, Joseph B. Martin, of Lamont, Ill., Lecia J. Winn, of Wapakoneta, Raymond (Alice) Berry, of Redmond, Wash., Tonia (Alan) Boyle, of Bellevue, Wash., and Drommie (John) Williams, of Canada.

The Rev. James O. Byrne, 99, died at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at St. Charles Center infirmary, in Carthagena.
He was born Aug. 28, 1911 in Glynnwood, the son of Anna (Cogan) and Thomas P. Byrne.

The Rev. James O. Byrne, 99, a long-time priest who served many parishes in the area, died Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at the infirmary of St. Charles Seminary in Carthagena.
Arrangements are incomplete at Miller Funeral Homes in St. Marys.
Diane Sue Koons, 70, 1815 Winston Drive, St. Marys, died at 5:40 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
She was born Sept. 5, 1940, in Sidney, the daughter of Eldora (Hughes) and William Haney. On July 2, 1963, she married Roger R. Koons and he preceded her in death July 27, 2009.
She is survived by a son, Tim (Mary) Koons, of St. Marys; and two daughters, Heidi (Daniel) Lemmerman, of St. Marys, and Heather (Carl) Moeller, of St. Marys.
H. LaVerne Wertz, 89, of Wapakoneta, died at 12:18 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
She was born May 29, 1922, in Auglaize County, the daughter of Malinda (Kinstle) and William “Bill” Veit, who preceded her in death. On Dec. 31, 1943, she married Llewellyn F. Wertz, and he died March 29, 1997.
July 6th
Pauline “Polly” Swarner, 88, of Cridersville, formerly of St. Marys, died at 9:35 a.m. Monday, July 4, 2011, at Cridersville Healthcare Center, where she had made her home since November 2006. Prior to that, she had been a resident of The Gardens of Wapakoneta.
She was born Jan. 16, 1923, in Lima, the daughter of Maude (Ramer) and Guy Swarner, who preceded her in death. Her father died when she was only 6 years old. When her mother later remarried, it was her good fortune to have a wonderful step-father, Benjamin Kundert, whom she lovingly always called Dad.
