Patsy L. Maurer, 86

Patsy L. Maurer, 86, of Sidney, passed away Saturday evening, Feb. 1, 2014 at The Pavilion, Sidney. 
She was born in Botkins to the late Urban T. and Sylvia (Zimpfer) Kennedy on July 19, 1927.  She married Walter Philip Maurer, Jr. on May 11, 1946 in Botkins and he preceded her in death on May 9, 2008.  Patsy was also preceded in death by brothers, Donald and Robert Kennedy; a son-in-law, John Thomas; two great-grandchildren, Jade Thomas and M.J. Thomas and a grandson-in-law, Patrick Clerkin.

Melba P. Lowery, 92, of St. Marys, died at 2:05 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at Auglaize Acres. She was born Sept. 30, 1921, in St. Marys, the daughter of Alva and Mary (Long) Burd, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Clarence Dorsten, Robert Hecht and Charles B. Lowery.

Survivors include three sons, James Dorsten, of Piqua, Ronald (Mildred) Dorsten, of Wapakoneta and Daniel “Lee” (Jean) Dorsten, of St. Marys; nine grandchildren; 17 great- grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Vernon E. “Vern” Doenges, 91

Vernon E. “Vern” Doenges, 91, of Wapakoneta, died at 2:20 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima. He was born Feb. 18, 1922, on the family farm in St. Marys Twp., Auglaize County, the son of William J. and Marie (Oldiges) Doenges, who preceded him in death. On Sept. 11, 1948, he married Eileen M. Hasson, and she died May 18, 2005.

H. Gene Tester, 65

H. Gene Tester, 65, of 08304 Co. Road 33A in Wapakoneta, died at 9:25 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at his residence. He fought a 5 1/2 year battle with multiple myeloma, and passed away peacefully with his family and close friends at his bedside. He was born on Oct. 4, 1948, in Celina, to Howard and Wilma (Schultz) Tester. On Aug. 21, 1971, at Westview United Methodist Church in Cridersville, he married Cathy J. Archer, who survives.
