Frederick Alan âAlâ Smith, 94, of Lima, died at 4:20 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011, at Lost Creek Care Center.
He was born March 19, 1917, in Delphos, the son of Myrtle Etna (Westenbarger) and Frederick Percival Smith. On July 21, 1961, he married Martha Jane âJanieâ Chamberlin who survives in Lima.
Also surviving are three sons, Charles Smith, of Lima, Dale Alan Smith, of Wilmington, Jeffrey Courtad, of Lima; and a daughter, Janice Sliemers, of Perrysburg.
He was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence Smith.
Robert E. Goodwin, 91, 6141 County Road 33A, St.Marys, died Monday, August 8, 2011, at his residence.
He was born July 31, 1911, the son of Zelia (Dixon) and William Goodwin.
On May 23, 1940, he married Grace W. Sollman at the United Church of Christ in New Bremen, and she died in February 1987.
Surviving is a son, Gary (Bonnie) Goodwin, of Wapakoneta; seven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Mary M. Hertenstein, 83, 17222 County Road 66-A North in St. Marys, died at 7:30 p.m. Monday Aug. 8, 2011, at Otterbein Retirement Community, near Grand Lake St. Marys.
She was born Aug. 16, 1927 in Jefferson Township, Mercer County, to Florence (Glass) and Don Chivington. On Nov. 9, 1947, at the East Old Town Church in Mercer County she married Harold âLeftyâ Hertenstein, who died Oct. 28, 2008.
Jesse Christopher Daniel, two-day-old newborn son of Katlin (Thompson) and Zachary Daniel, 400 Parkway Drive, St. Marys, died at 7:10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011, at Childrenâs Medical Center in Dayton.
Jesse was born Aug.4, 2011, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
Funeral rites will be held 11 a.m. Friday, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St. Marys, with the Pastor Alva Daniel, officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Michael Lee âBig Mikeâ McDaniel Sr., 53, died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011, at St. Ritaâs Medical Center in Lima after a long battle with cancer.
He was born on Oct. 15, 1957, in Lima, the son of Evelyn (Sizemore) and Arthur Lee McDaniel. His father is deceased. His mother and stepfather, Evelyn and Norman Crouson, survive in Lima. On Dec. 25, 1987, he married Tonda Kay Anderson who survives in Cridersville.
Survivors include a son, David Eric Anderson, of Lima; and three aughters Michelle Wells, of Cridersville, Shenia Ream, of Spencerville, and Tonya Ridenour, of Lima.
Beatrice C. Young, 95, formerly of 323 S. Walnut St., New Bremen died at 8:54 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2011, at the Otterbein of St. Marys.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen, with the Rev. Becky Erb Strang officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Sidney, at a later date.
Nancy L. Kohlrieser, 64, of Wapakoneta, died at 2:42 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, at Lima Memorial Health System, surrounded by her family.
She was born Nov. 10, 1946, in Lima, the daughter of Roberta Jean (Moyer) and Leo Dean Copeland, who preceded her in death. On Dec. 30, 1967, she married Thomas J. âTomâ Kohlrieser, and he survives.
Nancy Kohlrieser, 64, of Wapakoneta, died 2:42 p.m., Sunday Aug. 7, 2011, at Lima Memorial Health System.
Arrangements are incomplete at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, Wapakoneta.
Robert N. âRobbieâ Rister Sr., 36, of Delphos, died Thursday Aug. 4, 2011.
He was born Feb. 14, 1975 in Lima to Elsie âAnnaâ Keller Rister who survives in Cridersville. On Nov. 4, 2000 he married Linda M. Hesseling who survives in Delphos.
Survivors include a son Robert Nicholas âRobbieâ Rister Jr. of Delphos.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 Tuesday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home.
Services will begin at 1 p.m., Wednesday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jim Loescher will officiate. Burial will follow in Allentown Cemetery.
William A. âBillâ Wills, 70, of Wapakoneta, died 1:32 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 14, 1940, in Wapakoneta, the son of Bessie (Darst) and James âPeteâ Wills, who preceded him in death. On Sept. 2, 1961, he married Charlotte M. Hemmert, and she survives.
