Cattlemen hold annual banquet

The Auglaize County Cattleman's Association crowned this year's Beef Queen and Princess and presented a local veterinarian with the Cattleman of the Year award at its annual banquet Tuesday night.

Eighteen-year-old Michaela Kramer was named queen and 14-year-old Jenna Heitkamp was selected as princess during the banquet, which took place at the Auglaize County Fairgrounds.

Dr. Andy Mack, a veterinarian at Tri-County Veterinary Service, was presented with the 2015 Cattleman of the Year award.

Buckland's Hummer may go to Jackson Center

Buckland Police Chief Brian Snider said Jackson Center would like to add the Hummer Buckland received in 2012 to its tactical team. The transfer will have to be approved by the federal government.

Farmer’s win helps firefighters

BUCKLAND — The Monsanto Fund made a $2,500 donation to the Buckland Volunteer Fire Department on Wednesday.

Local producer Tony Lochard was selected as a winner in America’s Farmers Grow Communities, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund. The program enrolls farmers for a chance to win $2,500, which is then donated to the farmer’s nonprofit of choice. Lochard Farms selected Buckland Volunteer Fire Department to receive the donation.

Buckland strives to soldier on

BUCKLAND — Presiding over her first regular meeting of the Village Council, Acting Mayor Janet Bible reached out to the community to thank them for their support as she fills out the term of Dan Lambert, who resigned Monday.

First on council’s plate is the need for two council members to replace Bible and Lonnie John, who also resigned Monday.

Candidates must be voting residents of Buckland and must have resided in the village for at least a year.

Legacy Park project moves forward

During Monday's Village Council meeting, council took the necessary steps forward to get the Legacy Park project off the ground and running. Funds were the main talk regarding the project Monday. DWP hands out awards at annual meeting

February 10, 2015

The Downtown Wapakoneta Partnership (DWP) presented six awards to local businesses and a city department Tuesday night during its Annual Meeting and Dinner held at the the Eagles. 

Merit Award winners included The Concrete Protector, James F. Hearn Law Office and Interior Motifs.

Gift to the Community Award winners were the Auglaize Roots and Shoots Garden Club, Village Green and the Wapakoneta Electric Department.

Monday's special meeting of Buckland Village Council saw the mayor, the village clerk, a councilman and the street commissioner resigning.

Cridersville Village Council Update

February 9, 2015

Cridersville Village Council meeting was held tonight. During the meeting, council approved several EMS contracts with an area village and township.

Council is also moving forward with the implemention of having a One Call system in place to notify residents of various emergencies.

Scheduled power outage

Midwest Electric will have a 15-minute planned power outage Thursday, between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. to perform minor maintenance at the Amanda substation. The Amanda substation serves from north of Wapakoneta to west of Elida, west of Cridersville, north of Buckland, east and northeast of Spencerville.
