Mike Lackey, Lima resident and author of “Spitballing: The Baseball Days of Long Bob Ewing,” spoke to the Lions Club of Wapakoneta at its semimonthly meeting on Tuesday at Astro Lanes.
Lackey, a retired newspaper reporter, editor and columnist, has contributed to the Dictionary of Literary Biography, “NINE: A Journal of Baseball History and Culture” and the book, “Deadball Stars of the National League.” He is also a member of the Society for American Baseball Research. He has lived in Lima since 1975.
With only four months until fair week, the Auglaize County Fair board is finalizing planning and updating locals on changes being made to the fair this spring.
The Auglaize County Fair dedicates certain days of fair week to special members of the community, including “Kid’s Day” and “Veteran’s Day.” At a regular fair board meeting, members discussed adding some new special days and making adjustments to the existing days.
Health Commissioner Charlotte Parsons brought four topics to the forefront of the Auglaize County Health Department Board of Health meeting Tuesday morning, all of which needed board action.
Primarily, the community health improvement plan needed to be accepted. After a number of meetings and discussions Parsons said she received the final plan on Monday.
