District honors teacher

A teacher from the Wapakoneta School District has been recognized for her achievements in the classroom throughout the past year.

Wapakoneta High School English teacher Kelli Benshoff, who teaches 10th grade Language Arts, has been awarded the “2013 Teacher of the Year” award distributed by the Alvin W. Metzger VFW #8445.

Museum project features pavilion

Phase one of the new vision for the Armstrong Air and Space Museum grounds was put into place in September of 2011, with the placing of the new sign in front of the museum along I-75. Phase two is set to be completed by May 1.

According to museum Executive Director Chris Burton, phase two consists of the building of the Tranquility Base Picnic Pavilion, a new area where visitors and tour groups can enjoy their lunch before or after their museum visit.

Former teacher takes reigns at Red Cross

Newly appointed Red Cross Community Chapter Executive Bill Steinbrunner sees his background as a teacher as an advantage when it comes to performing his duties.

“I think my experience in education gives me some skills that will make it possible for me to work with the people,” Steinbrunner said. “I’ve spent my whole adult life working with people, whether it’s a classroom full of kids or adults at an after school meeting. I guess I just have a desire to help people.”
